PLACING ORDERS

-J's Cakes is a private homebased cake studio that is licensed and insured. No walk-in orders are accepted due to health & safety precautions. All orders are placed via text, email, phone call, or on-line. All orders are delivered via direct doorstep service, which is included in your order.

-8″ cakes are available with the quickest turnaround and can typically be ordered with at least 72 hours’ notice. However, during peak seasons, our baking schedule often fills up quickly. Orders for custom-decorated cakes, cupcakes, and treats should be placed as far in advance as possible. We always do our best to accommodate last-minute custom orders, but availability is not guaranteed.

-All orders should be placed at least two weeks in advance. Sooner is always better.
-Last-minute orders will incur a 25% rush fee, which will be added to the final invoice total.

Please note: Retainer options do not apply to rush orders placed within seven days of the “need-by” date. In these cases, the full balance must be paid at the time the order is placed.

DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS

On the day of your delivery, you will receive a text confirming the approximate delivery time based on the time block you selected, and the location listed on your invoice line item as "delivery". You will also receive a text when we are en route to the delivery location.

- For all orders, delivery times are in the evening between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

​- Sunday availability is between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.

​- Saturday deliveries are not available.  

​- For weekday and weekend orders, alternative delivery times can be arranged, depending on availability, up to 9:00 pm.

​-Delivery is included on all orders within Memphis & Shelby County city limits. For surrounding areas (i.e., outside the city limits and the tri-state area for Mississippi, Arkansas, etc.), there is a $1.19 per mile fee from Southeast Memphis (ZIP code 38115). We do deliver long-distance. Text to inquire (901-276-9750).

- All deliveries are handed off at the door for our safety unless it is a wedding cake. Set-up is included on all wedding cake orders. Set-up is not included on standard orders but can be added. Please let us know at the time you place your order that you will need the cake set-up at the venue/delivery location. Wedding cakes that require transport upstairs if no elevator is available in a wedding venue will incur an additional fee.

- We do not arrange order pick-ups. If you miss your delivery window, you may forfeit your order if we are unavailable at the next available delivery time.

ORDER SET-UP

If set-up is included, please ensure the table where the cake will be displayed is decorated (if applicable) and/or clear of obstructions before the scheduled delivery time.

Set-up includes, where applicable:
– On-site cake assembly
– Floral application
– Complicated toppers and/or décor that require on-site placement
– Cake stand assembly furnished by J’s Cakes Studio

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

​

The following terms and conditions apply to all orders from /J's Cakes/J’s Cakes Studio, including wedding cakes, custom cakes, and other baked goods:

​

– Upon receipt of the retainer based on the furnished invoice for your custom order, the buyer agrees to the color, design(s), and flavor as specified at the time of ordering.
– Receipt of the retainer constitutes acceptance of these terms and confirms an agreement for services between the client and J’s Cakes Studio.
– Retainer refunds for wedding cakes may be granted, minus a $75 administrative fee. Requests must be made at least one month prior to the wedding date.
– A non-refundable retainer of 50% is due the same day we agree to make your cake in order to secure your event date.
– Final payment for all orders is due at the time of pickup or delivery.
– Wedding cake balances must be paid in full no later than two (2) weeks before the event date.
– We require a minimum of two weeks’ notice for cake orders. Orders may be placed earlier, based on availability.

DESIGN & CHANGES

– While every effort is made to replicate inspiration photos and agreed-upon designs, J’s Cakes Studio reserves the right to make slight design adjustments as needed based on materials, structural stability, or artistic judgment.
– Minor changes to orders (e.g., color or décor adjustments) may be accommodated up to 10 days before the event date, based on availability.

ALLERGENS & SAFETY

– Our products may come in contact with milk, wheat, nuts, soy, and other allergens. It is the buyer’s responsibility to notify guests of any allergens.
– J’s Cakes Studio is not liable for allergic reactions.
– Cakes may contain inedible materials, such as plastic accessories, floral wire, or wooden/plastic dowels. We are not responsible for injury or illness resulting from ingestion of these materials.

 

DELIVERY, STORAGE & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

– Once the cake has been delivered and set up, or picked up by the client, J’s Cakes Studio is no longer responsible for the product.
– Cakes should be kept in a cool, stable environment, away from direct sunlight, humidity, or heat.
– We are not responsible for damage caused by weather, venue conditions, improper storage, or mishandling after delivery or pickup.

 

PICKUP TIMELINESS

– Please arrive on time for scheduled pickups. Cakes not picked up within 30 minutes of the agreed time may incur a late pickup fee or be rescheduled, based on availability.

 

COMPLAINTS & REFUNDS

– Any complaints or concerns must be submitted within three (3) days of your event.
– Cake flavor and texture are subjective. Refund requests based solely on taste or texture will be considered only if the product is returned for inspection within one (1) day of the event and found to fall below industry standards.
– No refunds will be issued for products accepted at pickup or delivery unless otherwise determined by J’s Cakes Studio.

 

MARKETING & PHOTOGRAPHY

– J’s Cakes Studio reserves the right to photograph your cake for marketing, social media, or portfolio use.
– Client-submitted photos may be shared with credit unless otherwise requested in writing.
