Custom cakes are custom priced. If you are looking to purchase a customized cake, the two biggest factors that determine the price are the number of servings you need in order to feed guests at your event and the intricacy of your cake's design. Knowing your budget and being realistic about your budget also helps. On average our customers spend a minimum of $140.
If you are still curious about a specific design, please complete an inquiry .
If a customized cake isn’t within your budget at the moment, no worries — we also offer a selection of unique, high-quality cakes you won’t find in commercial grocery stores or big-box retailers. Be sure to explore our online bakery to see what’s available.

In most cases, no. Your cake should stay fresh for at least 4–5 days at room temperature. However, if you ordered a cake that contains fresh ingredients (e.g., strawberries, carrots, or cream cheese frosting), it’s best to refrigerate the cake overnight.
Also, if your cake was delivered the day before your event and you plan to transport it to another location, you should refrigerate it. A cold, chilled cake is much more stable for transport than one that has been sitting and has come to room temperature.
As a note of caution: refrigerating a cake with fondant or gumpaste "edible" decorations that stick up or out can cause them to wilt from condensation when the cake is removed from the fridge. If you do not remove the decorations before refrigerating—or if the cake is not presented and served shortly after removal from the fridge—you run the risk of this happening.
Lastly, all of our cakes should be eaten at room temperature. While you can store them in the refrigerator, please remove them at least 2–3 hours before serving to allow the buttercream to become soft and creamy. Butter-based cakes must come to room temperature for the best taste and texture. This applies to our yellow vanilla cake, Biscoff cake, and pound cakes—these are the butter-based cakes on our menu, and we highly recommend letting them come to room temp first.
All of the other cakes on the menu taste great either way!

We take the health and safety of my customers as a top priority. J's Cakes understands how critical it is to provide customers with accurate potential allergen information.
Our baking equipment comes in contact with peanuts, other nuts, nut oils and extracts, as well as products containing gluten. Therefore, our products cannot be certified as a nut free or gluten free products. J's Cakes produces products with tree nuts, peanuts, eggs, wheat, soy, and dairy products.
We can provide a gluten friendly product for those avoiding gluten for nutritional purposes. Right now, this option is only available for our chocolate cake.
We currently do not offer any keto-friendly products, but we can make a reduced sugar product with some cakes upon request.

Absolutely! However, please bear in mind that you still must pay for the decorating of the faux cake. Requesting a faux, “dummy” cake only discounts the costs slightly. Nevertheless, this is a great option to use if you want a huge cake for wow factor, but you don’t need nearly as much cake to accommodate your guest list.

A sculpted cake is one that must be carved into its final shape—much like carving a statue from a block of wood. It cannot simply be removed from its original baking pan, stacked, and frosted for final presentation.
J’s Cakes prefers to sculpt cakes using our yellow vanilla cake. We can accommodate other flavors, but this butter-based cake offers the most stability and is ideal for carving. Depending on the shape of your cake, most sculpted designs will have a layer of chocolate ganache underneath the frosting to add additional structure.
While your favorite frosting can still be used between the cake layers, fillings are often not permitted in sculpted cakes, as they can compromise stability in many cases.

No, you don't need to provide an image. However, having an image helps us to understand your vision. In all cases we prefer to make something custom, and we do reserve the right to make creative changes to inspiration photos you provide. However, some clients do have a set design in mind, and we can definitely replicate a cake you've found to the best of our ability. However, we never promise EXACT copies. We try, but things like matching colors, for example, to an inspiration cake photo may not be exactly like the photo. Different phones and screens can have different resolutions, etc.

In general, most cakes will stay fresh at room temperature for up to 5 days. However, bare in mind that if your cake contains fresh ingredients such as strawberries, carrots, etc...they will need to be refrigerated.
If you choose to refrigerate your cake, it is suggested you wrap it well or it will dry out.
